I am a Colorado kid and since my family didn't "summer on the cape" the whole concept of a lobster roll is pretty new to me. But I'd like to think I am making up for lost time. This sign at my neighborhood haunt Ditch Plains has been taunting me for weeks! I mean, bloody marys and lobster rolls just sound like it would go together like PB&J or Grilled Cheese and Tomato soup, right? So after weeks of pining for this "perfect" meal, I finally made it happen. Ditch Plain is a good spot (great Mac n Cheese) and a good place for a casual bite. I had high hopes. Ditch Plains after all is a big surfing spot in Montauk so they must know a thing or two about the ocean and things that come out of it. Not the case....... I won't go into it, mainly because I am grateful to them for introducing me to the concept of the Lobster Roll/ Bloody Mary Combo. It is what dreams are made of and certainly the finest hangover cure out there. So take their advice and my word save your $28 and head on over to Lukes Lobster (with locations all over the city) and feast on the MOST glorious lobster roll that money can buy. Giant chunks of crustacean goodness, no mayo that the eye can see (it might be there but it is not visible), a little old bay seasoning and an expertly toasted and slightly buttery roll....mmm mmm. Then pick up Brooklyn's very own McClure's Bloody Mary Mix
