56 is way too young to die.
It was one of those moments in life (or maybe just in my life) that I will always remember. I will remember where I was when I learned that Steve Jobs had passed. That moment came tonight in my very first Blogging class at NYU. In the midst of the class one of the girls announced –“guys, Steve Jobs has died”, the class gasped. We were sitting in a brand new computer lab with 30 brand spanking new Mac desktops. If you weren’t aware of his impact before – at that moment, in that room with the sparkling apples illuminating the room, it was impossible to escape that this man was the Thomas Edison or Henry Ford of our generation. His innovation has fully changed the face of so many industries, education, commerce and namely an industry that is near and dear to me – the music business.
He fought hard – it’s a fact that Pancreatic Cancer spares nobody. It comes hard and fast.
Steve was diagnosed in 2004. It is unheard of for a person to live with this type of cancer for 7 years but the life he created was unlike any other so it comes as no surprise that he beat the odds. I don’t think it is a coincidence that Steve passed only hours after his successor at apple, Phil Schiller gave his first presentation introducing iPhone 4S. If you have ever lost a loved one in a protracted illness you have probably witnessed the moment when the person decides to let go. Often times they hang on until that special child or grandchild arrives…and they let go gracefully, peacefully and truly on their own terms. I believe that for Steve that moment was Phil’s presentation. His baby is all growsed up and he knows that his legacy will live on…. he let go as he always did; on his own terms.
In our blogging class we had to come up with a headline for our Blog. Until this moment that headline read TBD. It only seems fitting to have my headline be a quote from a legend who is now part of our history…. Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish totally encapsulates what I want to achieve here. This blog will be my journey to feed that hunger and to find the fun along the way.
One thing I would like to say one last thing about Mr. Jobs – for such a creative genius; Sartorially speaking, not so much…

note: I realize this might be worthy of tl;dr , it won't happen again
